PM Internship Scheme 2024: Central Govt launches Internship Scheme for Young Generation

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has launched the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme in a pilot phase to provide internship opportunities to the country’s young people while also addressing youth unemployment. The Prime Minister intends to provide internships to 1 crore young people over the next five years.

Currently, the portal allows partner companies to register for the internship program, but youth registration is not yet open. Candidates who match the companies’ qualifying requirements can apply online for the scheme using the official portal — pminternship.mca.gov.in.

Eligibility for PM Internship Scheme

To be eligible for the internship programme, applicants must have completed their higher secondary education or high school and have an ITI certificate, a Polytechnic Institute diploma, or a degree such as BA, BSc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, or BPharma.

Candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 24 on the application deadline, be a citizen of India, and not be working or studying full-time. Enrollment in online or remote learning courses is allowed.

Offering of Internship

As assistants, candidates would receive a monthly stipend of Rs.5,000 for the duration of the 12-month internship. Each intern will earn Rs.500 from the company’s CSR fund, with the government contributing Rs.4,500. Additionally, interns will receive a one-time financial assistance of Rs.6,000 to cover incidental expenditures. The government will also ensure that interns are insured through schemes such as the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and the PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, which pay premiums.

PM Internship Scheme’s Application Process

Step 1: Go to the official website – pminternship.mca.gov.in.

Step 2: Scroll down to the signup section on the homepage. When you click the link, a new page appears.

Step 3: Fill out the registration form with the relevant information and documents, and then click the submit button.

Once the information is entered, a resume will be generated automatically, allowing candidates to apply for up to five opportunities based on their interests.

Participating Companies in Internship Scheme

Companies participating in the initiative were chosen based on their CSR expenditure over the previous three years. More businesses, banks, and financial institutions may join the scheme if approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Participation is voluntary, and organizations that are unable to provide internships internally may work with vendors, clients, or other partners in their value chain to generate chances.

The official portal features corporations like Adani, HP, Tata Steel, Cognizant, Vedanta, Lanco, Kotak, Microsoft, and Pataka.
