Police Officer and IT Official held for conducting Fake Raid

A Delhi Police Officer and an IT Official were arrested for conducting a fake raid on the residence of a businessman in Delhi.

Five persons were detained, including a Delhi Police head constable and an Income Tax Department employee, for allegedly executing a fake search on a businessman’s home in west Delhi’s Janakpuri neighbourhood. According to reports, an IT officer got information that a businessman in Janakpuri had between Rs.400 and Rs.500 crore in his possession at his home.

It had been set up just before the raid to include a woman in their plan so that the raids would appear legitimate and realistic because there are female members in the home and when they entered the premises, no one would suspect anything and notify the police after seeing a lady with them.

Businessman Kuljeet Singh from Delhi was the planned victim. The businessman, Kuljeet Singh lives with his wife, sons, and their families.

The event occurred on August 1st, at 8.30 a.m., when the fraudsters broke into the businessman’s home. Following that, they had to conduct a fake search of the residence. They pretended to have a search warrant, grabbed all of the family members’ phones, did a fake search in which they couldn’t find anything, and then left the location in their car, according to the officer.

After receiving information, the Janakpuri police station launched an investigation. They initially learned from the relevant department that the raid was fake. Police said they examined CCTV video from the area and spoke with family members to learn more about the fraudsters.

The car in which the accused arrived at the residence was identified. It was found that the car belongs to the head constable of the Delhi Police Department. On the basis of the businessman’s allegation, a case was filed at Janakpuri police station under relevant provisions of the India Penal Code, including house trespass. An investigation into the situation is now ongoing.
