Postponement of CA Exams 2024: CA Students will face long-haul Exam Challenge

CA students are facing major challenges ahead of their upcoming examinations, ranging from travelling long distances to exam centres, differences in exam details, and the necessity for postponement due to unexpected events such as the Ram Navami procession attack in West Bengal.

The comments on social media platforms like as Twitter and Facebook reflect a mix of determination and disappointment among students, with some requesting a postponement and others declaring that they intend to take the examinations despite the difficulties.

A plea/ petition of 16 CA students was submitted to the Delhi High Court in 1st week of April. Delhi HC rejected the petition submitted to extend the CA Exams from May 2024 to June 2024. The plea/ petition was dismissed in a manner that prohibited a postponement.

After the petition was rejected, CA students now reached to India’s top court (Supreme Court) to appeal this matter of postponing the CA Exams scheduled to be held in May 2024. These students filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) with the Supreme Court in order to obtain relief, citing worries over scheduling conflicts between the upcoming ICAI exams and the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

The petition reportedly submitted on April 16, emphasizes how the exams conflict with the democratic process of the approaching General Elections and asks for their postponement.

Students have also urged the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to address their issues, citing logistical challenges and irregularities in exam details.

According to a few of the circulating tweets on X, Advocate Nirnimesh Dubey will deliver the plea on behalf of all impacted students at the PIL hearing, which has not yet been scheduled.

Apart from this, other posts and comments are also circulating on X, formerly known as Twitter. Students showing concern and are letting ICAI know the difficulties they will face because of consecutive alternate dates of exams and election poll.

A Student wrote, “If exams are scheduled in Kabristaan that too at 2 am, CA students will still appear in the exams. It doesn’t mean that they are eager to appear in such situations. #icaiexams #castudents #icai”

On the other side, there are people, who are advising students to focus hard on their studies and don’t get themselves trapped in this matter.

CA Anupam Sharma tweeted, “Yes, Amit Ji I agree with your view. There will be many problems for CA students this time, but there is very little time left. I would like to ask all students to concentrate solely on studying.”

He further replied on a CA Student post, “Very sad, but no one changed your exam center. So please focus only on studying.”

CA Amit Jain wrote, “Replying to @caanupam7 Are you sure it is for postponement??? I don’t think CA students want postponement. CA students are hard workers and sincere towards study. According to my understanding, they want to give exams and also want to exercise voting right…”

The CA Final Exam is going to be held on May 2, 4 and 8 for Group 1 and for Group 2 on May 10, 14 and 16 and the CA Inter Exam is going to be held on May 3, 5 and 9 for Group 1 and for Group 2 on May 11, 15 and 17.
