Since the scheme's inception, Member Lending Institutions (MLIs) have issued 21.52 crore loans to women borrowers under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY). Dr Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad, Union Minister of State for Finance, revealed this in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
According to the Minister, this accounts for almost 68 percent of all loans made under PMMY. The Annexure contains information on PMMY beneficiaries (including women) per state/UT.
According to the Minister, any individual who is otherwise eligible for a loan and has a business plan for non-farm income generating activities in sectors such as manufacturing, trading, services, and activities allied to agriculture, and whose credit need is up to Rs.10 lakh, is eligible to take advantage of the Scheme.
