Rajasthan’s Commercial Tax Department has launched a special drive across the state to check GST evasion and other tax-related irregularities that cause revenue losses. The drive aims to identify businesses claiming ineligible input tax credit (ITC), selling goods without bills and hiding their actual turnover, a senior official said.

The drive has been underway for more than two months. Recently, departmental teams conducted surveys and investigations at 10 business establishments in Jaipur, Ajmer, Beawar, Didwana-Kuchaman, Khairthal-Tijara and Phalodi. The operations revealed suspected tax irregularities worth around Rs 2.85 crore. During the investigations, taxpayers voluntarily deposited or reversed about Rs 2.51 crore, the official said.

In one case, the department investigated Stubborn Resorts Private Limited in Jhotwara, Jaipur, on October 12 over ITC claimed for resort construction. The investigation found that the claimed credit was not eligible, following which the company reversed ITC worth Rs 55.26 lakh.

In another case, the department took action against AGRS Ventures LLP in C-Scheme, Jaipur, on October 13. Officials found suspected ineligible ITC of around Rs 1 crore related to the construction of immovable property. The company later reversed ITC worth Rs 99.76 lakh.

The department also investigated Assam Timber and Plywood on Pushkar Road in Ajmer over suspected sales without proper tax invoices and the concealment of business transactions. Officials physically checked the stock and seized documents suspected to be linked to irregularities. The initial assessment put the possible tax irregularity at around Rs 8 lakh.

Another case involved K C Agencies in Kaisarganj, Ajmer. Officials suspected violations of the composition scheme rules, including the sale of goods without bills of supply and the concealment of actual business turnover.
