RBI Notification: Inclusion of Model Co-op. Bank Ltd. in Second Schedule
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a notification (No. ADVT.-III/4/Exty./462/2025-26) on October 20, 2025, regarding the inclusion of a bank in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 (2).
According to Section 42 (sub-section (6)(c)) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 (2), the Reserve Bank of India directs the inclusion of "Model Co-op. Bank Ltd." in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.
The Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Act, 1934, is a list of banks that are recognized as "scheduled banks." Banks that are included in this schedule must have a minimum paid-up capital of Rs. 5 lakh and satisfy other criteria specified by the RBI. Being listed in the second schedule of RBI allows banks to access certain facilities, such as borrowing from the RBI and participating in clearinghouses.
