RGCB Recruitment 2022: Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is hiring candidates for the Purchase Officer, Electrical Supervisor, Junior Management Assistant, Technical Assistant Group II, Technical Assistant Group I and Typist/Lower Division Clerk posts. There are 07 vacancies for these posts.

Purchase Officer 

Vacancy –  01

Age limit – The candidate should be 35 years as on November 14, 2022

Minimum Qualifications – Graduation with a Diploma in Material Management and Two years of documented work experience in Scientific Offices/ Organisations/ Institutions of Central or State Government, having worked in the Purchase/Stores Division.

Additional Desirable Qualifications – Experience in dealing with procurements through the GeM portal of the Government of India will be counted as additional/desirable qualifications.

Job Description – RGCB has a functional Purchase & Stores Division. The Purchase Officer will attend to the day-to-day functioning of the said Division and process all indents for purchase action. The candidate shall have strong knowledge of store accounting and purchase procedures including procurements through GeM. The Purchase Officer will also attend to the receipt and accounting of stores. Various mandatory matters, inclusive of but not limited to Customs Clearance, etc. shall also form part of the essential duties of the Purchase Officer at RGCB.

Electrical Supervisor

Vacancy –   01

Age limit – The candidate should be 35 years as on November 14, 2022

Minimum Qualifications – BE/ B.Tech in Electrical Engineering with 60% marks. Good academic background and sufficient work knowledge in the field.

Additional Desirable Qualifications – ME/ M.Tech in the relevant field and documented work experience will be considered as additional desirable qualifications.

Job Description – The Institute currently functions from multiple campuses where the electrical installations and maintenance are being attached to primary importance. The work is currently attended to by a group of electricians at all the campuses, wherein the services of a qualified supervisor is essential. The Electrical Supervisor will have to be prompt and accurate in rendering services and will ensure that all electrical installations are properly maintained.

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to illustrate work-related matters, especially the points of concerns/problems and generate solutions will be added advantage attached to the position of Electrical Supervisor at RGCB.

Pay Level – Pay Level 6 of 7th CPC

Junior Management Assistant

Vacancy –   01

Age limit – The candidate should be 35 years as on November 14, 2022

Minimum Qualifications – Graduation with a minimum of two years of documented work experience in Scientific Offices/Organisations/ Institutions of Central or State Government.

Additional Desirable Qualifications – Knowledge of office procedures and ability to draft office notes, letters and other communications.

Job Description – The Junior Management Assistant will be required to perform duties in any of the Administrative Divisions of the Institute and shall be well versed with as many of the duties of RGCB Administration, viz., the Purchase procedures, receipt and issue of stores at RGCB ensuring needed documentations, other day to day administrative matters inclusive of TA/DA Claims, Medical Expenses, Estate Affairs, House Keeping, Welfare matters, Security/Surveillance matters, Finance & Accounting procedures, Academic matters, Patent matters and administrative works related to Building Engineering/academic matters/Laboratory Management.

Strong computer and software skills, excellent communication skills as well as proficiency in written and Spoken English will be mandatory.

Pay Level – Pay Level 5 of 7th CPC

Technical Assistant Group II

Vacancy –   01

Age limit – The candidate should be 35 years as on November 14, 2022

Minimum Qualifications – Graduate degree in Biotechnology or any branch of Life Sciences with 60% marks aggregate score.

Additional Desirable Qualifications – Post-graduate degree in Biotechnology or in any branch of Life Sciences, Documented experience of working in Scientific Offices/Organisations/ Institutions of Central or State Government, Documented experience of strong computer and software skills, Excellent communication skills as well as proficiency in written and spoken English.

Job Description – Prepare samples for testing using various laboratory equipment, Maintain laboratory records, Conduct laboratory tests, analyze results, and document findings, Clean and sterilize equipment and work area, Collect and prepare research and information needed for studies, Classify and label samples, Undertake basic administrative tasks such as filing and answering telephones, coordinate placing orders for inventory supplies needed in laboratory, ensure that the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced and that everything is clearly and correctly labeled.

Pay Level – Pay Level 5 of 7th CPC

Technical Assistant Group I

Vacancy –   02

Age limit – The candidate should be 35 years as on November 14, 2022

Minimum Qualifications – Plus Two/ Higher Secondary/ VHSE or equivalent with two years of documented work experience in Scientific Offices/Organisations/Institutions of Central or State Government.

Additional Desirable Qualifications – Working knowledge in various Laboratories and/or attached offices will be considered as additional desirable qualifications of the candidate’s eligibility to be included in the selection procedure, at the time of initial shortlisting of the applications.

Job Description – All routine works at scientific/ clinical/ molecular laboratories will have to be attended to by the Technical Assistant Group I. The Technical Assistant Group I will assist the Laboratory I/c. in the disbursement of the activities at those designated Laboratories, including the day-to-day affairs therein and any specific work allocated to such Divisions by the Competent Authority, from time to time.

Pay Level – Pay Level 2 of 7th CPC

Typist/Lower Division Clerk

Vacancy –   01

Age limit – The candidate should be 35 years as on November 14, 2022

Minimum Qualifications – Plus Two/ Higher Secondary/ VHSE or equivalent with two years of documented work experience in Scientific Offices/ Organisations/ Institutions of Central or State Government. Certificate of English Typewriting with 45 w.p.m

Additional Desirable Qualifications – Graduation from a Recognized Indian University

Job Description – The Typist/ Lower Division Clerk will assist the RGCB officers in due discharge of their duties in the Institute’s Administrative Divisions viz., General Administration, Finance & Accounts, Purchase & Stores, etc. In addition to Typewriting, the candidate will also perform Clerical tasks, such as Data Entry, maintenance of various auditable Manual Registers, etc.

Good computer and communication skills as well as proficiency in written and Spoken English will be mandatory.

General Instruction for RGCB Recruitment 2022

1. Candidates are advised to apply against this advertisement, only if they agree to abide by all relevant Rules of the Government of India and RGCB; and these General Conditions/Instructions.

2. The applications received will be initially scrutinized and candidates, who in the opinion of the Institute are likely to be suitable, also in compliance with the terms and conditions specified in this advertisement will only be shortlisted, and be eligible for consideration in further selection procedures. The decision of the Director, RGCB will be final and no representation/communication/submission will be entertained whatsoever in this connection as regards the entire selection procedures with regard to this Advertisement.

3. An abridged version of this advertisement will be published in a few National Dailies and in the Employment News. The closing date of receipt of applications from all candidates, including the one residing abroad will be November 14, 2022.

4. The relevant work experiences against each of the positions advertised will also be counted as on November 14, 2022.

5. For all positions advertised the applications will be initially screened by a duly constituted Institutional Screening Committee (ISC) to determine whether the applicant meets the minimum prescribed qualifications for the advertised positions at RGCB. Ineligible applications without these needed minimum qualifications will be summarily rejected and no further correspondence will be sent to them. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Selection Examination as detailed below:

a. The examination will be conducted in Three Tiers: Tier I, Tier II and Tier III, separate for each position as advertised.

b. The Tier I test is an objective type (multiple choice) with 100 questions. Each question carries two marks for every correct answer and minus half a mark (minus 0.50) for every wrong answer. The question paper will comprise questions in the following areas: General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language. The total time allowed for the Tier I examination will be 90 minutes.

c. The Tier II test will be a descriptive paper of 100 marks in the “pen and paper” model. The paper will comprise of questions on their academic subjects as well as on topics mentioned in the respective job description in this advertisement for respective positions. The Tier II test will have 10 questions, of which a candidate will need to answer any 5. If more than 5 questions are answered, only the first 5 questions in serial order will be valued. The duration of this test will be 90 minutes.

d. Candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of performance in Tier I and Tier II tests (Maximum 300 marks) will take the Tier III examination. Cut-off marks will be decided by the designated authority.

e. Names of shortlisted candidates to take the Tier III examination will be published on the RGCB website and in the Notice Board kept at the Main Campus of the Institute. No individual email or other sorts of communication will be sent to any candidate.
