SC Directs IGP Kiran S. to Head Reconstituted SIT, Directs CA Appointment in Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Theft Probe:

The Supreme Court has reconstituted the SIT under IGP officer Kiran S., ordered the appointment of a CA, and sought a status report within two weeks in the alleged Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case.
Supreme Court Strengthens Ayodhya Temple Donation Theft Probe

On Monday, the Supreme Court delivered a significant ruling stating that Inspector General of Police Mr Kiran S. will now supervise the reconstituted Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is presently investigating the recent alleged Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case of about 2 to 3 crore.
The Honourable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has instructed the concerned authorities to make an appointment of a Chartered Accountant (CA) for the investigation team. The authority has been further directed to furnish a status report in the court within two weeks and provide all the details of donations received by the temple.
The lawyer of the Uttar Pradesh government told the court that the investigation team developed for the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft case has been reassembled with three IPS officers, including Kiran S., Ayodhya DIG Somen Verma and SSP Gaurav Grover.
The court held that "our main focus is on the quality of the probe…The matter should be probed in a speedy, fair and unbiased manner." The court held that the team should also comprise a chartered accountant when the UP government informed the court about the new inclusions in the SIT probing the alleged financial irregularities in the handling of donations and offerings received by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The lawyer of the UP government named Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, had told the court that "We have constituted an SIT headed by Inspector General of Police Mr Kiran S. There is one Deputy Inspector General (DIG), one Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and one Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP)."
