All of the sectors indexes are higher, with the PSU Bank, metal, and realty indices each up 4%. The BSE midcap and smallcap indices are both down 3%.

The Sensex and Nifty50 indexes in India started Friday’s session on a strong note, with cautious gains seen across global markets after US Vice President Joe Biden announced further penalties against Russia. Investors throughout the world were keeping a close eye on the Russia-Ukraine issue. Gains across sectors aided the headline indices in building on their gap-up start, with the greatest gains coming from financial, IT, and oil & gas stocks. The Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices both rose 3-4 percent as markets became more broad. After finishing February with a loss of 862 points, or 5%, the 50-scrip index began the March futures & options (F&O) series.

The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices both rose 3% in the broader markets. Apollo Hospitals shares increased by 3% on a stock-by-stock basis. In the Nifty 50 Index, the business will take the place of Indian Oil.
