Smuggled gold worth over Rs 7.5 lakh & fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 10 lakhs recovered by Delhi Customs On 12.01.2022, one Indian passenger was intercepted by IGI Airport Customs Officers after arriving at T-3, IGI Airport, New Delhi from Ras AI Khanimah International Airport, UAE, on Flight No. SG753 dated 12.01.2022. The pax was found with 24 (twenty-four) pieces of silver-plated cylindrical-shaped gold totaling 175 grammes with a tariff value of Rs. 7,65,089/- (Rupees Seven Lakh Sixty Five Thousand Eighty-Nine only) and FICN (Fake Indian Currency Notes) with a face value of Rs. 10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakhs Only) (2,000 notes of denomination 500). In addition, one Indian national was detained who was meant to meet the traveller at the IGI Airport in New Delhi's arrival gate. The retrieved 24 (twenty-four) pieces of silver-plated cylindrical-shaped gold totaling 175 grammes and FICN with a face value of Rs.10,00,000/- were hidden in the pax's trolley bags and seized on 12.01.2022, under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. In accordance with Section 104 of the Customs Act, 1962, the pax and his receiver have been detained. More research is being carried out. The National Probe Agency (NIA) has also been notified and has joined the investigation.
