Still Waiting for Your Tax Refund? Here’s What You Need to Know
Taxpayers are eagerly waiting for their refunds, especially if they have paid more tax than required. After the September 19 filing deadline passed, many taxpayers are still awaiting their refunds. However, The Income Tax Department sends refunds after your return is submitted and e-verified. It usually takes 4 to 5 weeks to get the money in your bank.
Refunds can get delayed sometimes, if there are mistakes such as incorrect bank details, inaccurate personal information, or if there are problems with verification. To avoid such situations, taxpayers should double-check all the details before submitting such as PAN, bank account details and other personal details as well.
Income Tax Refund Status
Taxpayers can track their refund status by following these steps: Step 1: Visit the official website of Income Tax India (www.incometax.gov.in). Step 2: Log in to the portal (by using the registered user ID, PAN, password, and the captcha code). Step 3: Search ‘View Returns/Forms’ and tap on the ‘Select An Option’ link and then on the ‘Income Tax Returns’ link from the drop-down list. (Fill in the assessment year and click on submit). Step 4: To check details, click on the ITR acknowledgement number to know the ITR refund status. Taxpayers must check their Income Tax Return (ITR) notifications if the refund does not arrive within the 4 to 5 weeks. They should also keep an eye on emails or messages from the IT Department so that any refund issues can be fixed without delay because the Income Tax Department sends notifications through emails if there are any mistakes or mismatches related to refunds. It’s important to respond quickly to such messages to avoid further delays.About Author
