Supreme Court Dismisses GST Department’s Plea Against Siemens; Rs 34.83 Crore Demand Set Aside:

The Supreme Court has dismissed the GST department’s SLP against the Gujarat High Court order that set aside a Rs 34.83 crore GST demand proposed against Siemens Limited over transfer of leasehold interest in its Halol, Gujarat property.
Gujarat HC Order Against Rs 34.83 Crore GST Demand Stands

Siemens Limited had initially disclosed receipt of a show-cause notice (SCN) vide an intimation dated September 20, 2025.
The notice was issued by the Joint Commissioner, Central GST & Excise, Vadodara I Commissionerate, proposing a GST demand of Rs 34.83 crore, along with applicable interest and penalty under Section 74 of the Central Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, 2017, concerning transfer and assignment of the Company's leasehold interest in the property located at Halol, Gujarat.
However, the Honourable Gujarat High Court set aside the aforementioned SCN, which the Company disclosed on November 27, 2025.
Subsequently, the GST department, being aggrieved by the aforementioned order of the Gujarat High Court, challenged the same before the Honourable Supreme Court of India by filing a Special Leave Petition (SLP). However, the Supreme Court has dismissed the petition. Accordingly, presently, the litigation is in favour of the company. The company had received the said order on August 20, 2026, at 3:30 PM.
The company has made this whole disclosure vide an Intimation dated August 20, 2026, addressed to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange Limited (BSE) under the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
