Supreme Court Rejects BCCL Appeal

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has reported a material litigation after the Supreme Court dismissed its appeal in a contractual dispute with ATLibra BPL, a JV formed for a specific project. The case pertains to a contract awarded in the year 2010 for hiring heavy earth-moving machinery for removal and rehandling of overburden and transportation of coal in Golukdih NC Project at Dhanbad.
The Supreme Court in an order dated October 8, 2026 dismissed BCCL’s appeal against an earlier order of the Jharkhand High Court dated August 8, 2024. The High Court had upheld a Commercial Court, Dhanbad, decree dated May 8, 2023, directing BCCL to pay Rs 46.20 crore, along with interest at 10.5% per annum.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision, BCCL has been advised by its legal counsel to file a review petition challenging the order. The company said it would inform the relevant authorities about further developments in the case, as required under SEBI’s listing regulations.
