Supreme Court to Remain Open on Saturdays from July 14 2025 The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice regarding changes in its work schedule. As stated in a notice on June 16, 2025, the Supreme Court has amended and changed some rules under the Supreme Court Rules, 2013. The changes, made with the approval of the President of India, are effective from July 14, 2025. An important change is that the Supreme Court Registry and offices will be open on Saturdays. Their hours will be 10 AM to 1 PM. I see this as a benefit to the administration of the court process in that you can now attend to your court business, like filing documents and other things, even on Saturday. You have another option to plan within the extended operating hours of the court. The amendment was made by amending Rules 1, 2 and 3 of Order II of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013.

The official notification regarding this important change or amendment was published in the Gazette of India on 14th June 2025 and is also available on the official website of the Supreme Court, which is www.sci.gov.in The notice has been shared with the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association, along with a request to display it on their notice boards for the information of their members. This action has been taken to improve efficiency and access in both the courts as well as the overall processes for lawyers, litigants and other officials.
