UIDAI launches New Feature to Verify Aadhaar-linked Mobile Number and E-mail Address

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new tool to assist citizens in verifying the mobile number and email address associated with their Aadhaar card. The decision was made in response to allegations that residents were concerned about their Aadhaar OTP being delivered to the wrong mobile number.

The “Verify email/mobile Number” option is accessible via the UIDAI website or the mAadhaar app. Residents will be able to use this tool to verify that the mobile number and email address connected with their Aadhaar card are correct.

If a person is unsure about the mobile number provided during the enrollment process, they can use the “Verify Aadhaar” option on the Myaadhaar portal or mAadhaar app to verify the last three digits of the number.

If a resident’s mobile number or email address is not linked to their Aadhaar card, the feature will notify them and suggest them to correct their information. Residents can visit their nearest Aadhaar centre to add or change their cellphone number or email address.

The new function will ensure that the Aadhaar card’s mobile number and email address are up to date and safe, providing people with better transparency and security. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has praised the move, saying it will help avoid any potential misuse of personal information and offer residents more control over their Aadhaar records.
