The Aadhaar card designed for children is considerably different from the standard Aadhaar card. When UIDAI issues Aadhaar cards for children, the colour is blue. It is also known as Baal Aadhaar. This Baal Aadhaar is created at the time of birth using the child’s birth discharge certificate and the parent’s Aadhaar card.
The blue coloured 12-digit Aadhaar card is intended for children aged 5 and under. This Aadhaar card is good for up to five years. Following this, the Aadhaar card must be updated. This blue coloured Aadhaar card cannot be used after the age of five.
Blue Aadhaar cards can be obtained both online and offline. Biometric information from the child is not necessary to create this Aadhaar card. For this, only the parent’s Aadhaar card is required. In this, only one photo of the child is captured.
To make a Blue Aadhaar Card online, first visit the UIDAI website. Along with providing the relevant information for the child’s Aadhaar registration, parents will be required to submit their number. You will need to reserve an enrollment centre for the registration process.
The essential documents such as the parent’s Aadhaar card, address proof, and the child’s birth certificate will be checked. Following this, the Aadhaar card will be issued within 60 days.
When the child turns five years old, you must update his Aadhaar card. You can arrange an appointment by visiting the UIDAI website and selecting the option on the homepage.
After validating the location and information, you must take the child to the centre with the original documents. After verification, the child’s new Aadhaar card will be issued.
