When Unsuccess Feels Louder Than Success: A CA’s Honest Note on Failure
In a recent post on X, Chartered Accountant Pratibha Goyal shared a deeply personal message about exam failure. A feeling every CA student fears but few openly talk about.
In her post, she reflected on the moment many students fear the most, seeing the result status read "Unsuccessful".
She shared how, during her own student days, the word used to be the simple and blunt "Failed". And somehow, she says, that word still echoes louder in her memory than the word "Pass" that came later. The impact of that single result can feel overwhelming.
She added, the moment the screen shows "Unsuccessful", it hits hard. Years of hard work suddenly feel questioned. Confidence drops instantly. Students begin to doubt themselves. "How could it be me?" is the first thought that crosses one's mind. After studying with the belief that "First attempt is the last attempt", the result can feel like a personal setback.
She wrote that she cried "like a baby" for three days straight after facing failure. The honesty in her words resonated with many aspiring CA aspirants who often go through similar emotions but rarely speak about them publicly.
She advised students to let the emotions out. Cry if needed. Feel the pain. But only for a while. Once the tears stop, the focus must shift. The goal should be clear to see the word "Successful" on that same screen in the next attempt.
Her post serves as a reminder that no matter how many times you fail, you should stay focused on your goal and keep moving forward until you achieve success.
CA Result = "Unsuccessful"
It hits you hard. I clearly remember, during my days, it used to be failed! I clearly remember that! More than I remember "Pass" in next attempt! Suddenly all your achievements, hardwork are questioned. Your confidence is shaken to core! How could… — Pratibha Goyal (@PratibhaGoyal) March 3, 2026
