Work from home in govt offices in Delhi extended till 26-11-2021
To battle air pollution and its health implications, the Delhi government on Sunday extended the ban on vehicles carrying non-essential commodities entering the city and work from home for its employees till November 26.
The restriction on construction and demolition activity in Delhi has been lifted, according to a senior official.
Schools and institutions would stay closed until further orders, according to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), he stated.
"In light of the very poor air quality forecast and the fact that vehicular pollution causes extensive air pollution and releases harmful air pollutants, it is felt that there is a need for further extension of the vehicular movement curbs in Delhi," according to an order issued by the environment department.
"Stop entry of vehicles in Delhi save for trucks carrying vital items until November 26," it said, adding that the timeframe might be extended if necessary.
"All offices of GNCT of Delhi/autonomous bodies/corporations shall remain closed till November 26 except those involved in essential and emergency services.... However, all the officers/officials shall work from home," the order said.
The Delhi government issued ten measures on Wednesday in response to the CAQM's demands, including a ban on vehicles carrying non-essential products entering the city and the shutdown of schools and colleges till further orders.
Construction and demolition activities were also prohibited in the city, and employees were told to work from home until Sunday (November 21).
