The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has issued four new important updates related to Two-factor Authentication, Biometric-Based Aadhaar Authentication, appeal filing deadline and updation of annual return Table 8A for ITC Computation.

The Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN) is introducing two-factor authentication (2FA) for taxpayers to strengthen the login security in GST portal. The GST Department has updated Table 8A for Computation based on Supplier’s GSTR-1/IFF upto 30.11.23 on GST Portal. This new update read as “Computation of ITC has been made based on GSTR-1/IFF/GSTR-5 filed by your corresponding suppliers upto 30/11/2023. The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) issued an advisory on Biometric-Based Aadhaar Authentication for GST Registration in Andhra Pradesh. This is to inform taxpayers about recent developments concerning the application process for GST registration. It is advised to keep the following key points in mind during the registration process. 1. Rule 8 of the CGST Rules, 2017 has been amended to provide that an applicant can be identified on the common portal, based on data analysis and risk parameters for Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication and taking photograph of the applicant along with the verification of the original copy of the documents uploaded with the application. 2. The above-said functionality has been developed by GSTN. It will be rolled out in Andhra Pradesh on 4th December, 2023.
