The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will chair the 50th GST Council Meeting today in new delhi. The Union Government and states's Senior officials will present at the meeting, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary and the Finance Ministers of the states and union territories will also present at the meeting.
As per the statement came out from the leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi representative, its got to know that Finance Ministers from Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu opposes putting GSTN under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on Tuesday.
She emphasised that such a significant step should not be done without first consulting with the GST Council. "We have requested that the Finance Minister discuss the issue regardless of how long today's meeting lasts," she further stated.
The GST Council is now convening for the 50th time at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.
The Indian government has updated Act provisions to add the GST Network to the list of organisations with which the Enforcement Directorate would share information.
