During a surprise raid on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at 5 shops owned by 4 scrap dealers in Chhatarpur, 5 teams from the sales tax department discovered GST fraud totaling about one crore rupees. The department, however, suggests waiting 48 hours or so before making a decision. Five teams have currently intervened in relation to these shops.
It appears, based on the matter that has come to light, lakhs of rupees were being procured by these junk traders from fake firms. The department took this action after suspecting some firms of having a sudden turnover of lakhs of rupees.
On behalf of the organisation, CTO Umesh Tripathi reported that at 12:30 pm, five teams from the sales tax departments in Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Naugaon, and Bina raided four junk traders' businesses in Chhatarpur to conduct surveys under the supervision of Sapan Sonetke, joint commissioner of the division.
