52nd GST Council Meeting to discuss setting up of GST Appellate Tribunals

The GST Council chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and comprising State Ministers will hold its next council meeting on October 7, i.e. 52nd GST Council Meeting.

On his Official Twitter account, GST Council tweeted, “The 52nd meeting of the GST Council will be held on 7th October, 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan , New Delhi.”

At its previous meeting on August 2, the council approved amendments to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) laws to clarify the taxation of casinos, horse racing, and online gaming. GST @28% was imposed on the full face value of bets in the three supplies.

In its upcoming meeting the GST Council to discuss issues about setting up of GST Appellate Tribunals, sources said.

In 50th meeting of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, Constitution of GST Appellate Tribunal approves by Council. The Council has suggested Rules regulating the appointment and conditions of the President and Members of the proposed GST Appellate Tribunal in order to ensure the smooth establishment and operation of the GST Appellate Tribunal.

The GST Council also recommended that provisions of Finance Act, 2023 pertaining to GST Appellate Tribunal may be notified by the Centre with effect from 01.08.2023, so that the same can be brought into operation at the earliest.
