As the new government assumes charge, the GST Council’s 53rd meeting has been scheduled for June 22, 2024, in New Delhi. The GST Council’s last meeting was conducted on October 7, 2023, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

“The 53rd meeting of the GST Council will be held on 22nd June 2024 at New Delhi,” the GST Council Secretariat said in a post on Twitter.

The GST Council will meet for the first time since Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to power for the third time in a row. For the second time in a row, Nirmala Sitharaman has been appointed Finance Minister.

She is expected to propose the final Budget for FY25, which would set the tone for the Modi 3.0 government’s priorities and direction for Viksit Bharat.

The meeting will take place before the first Parliamentary session of the 18th Lok Sabha, which is slated for June 24. However, the meeting’s agenda is now unclear and will be finalized in the coming days.
