The 39th GST Council Meeting, held on March 14, 2020, approved the proposal of Aadhaar Authentication for new taxpayers. However, because to the COVID-19 epidemic, the implementation was put on hold. CBIC issued notifications on March 23, 2020, regarding Aadhaar authentication for GST registration beginning April 1, 2020, however this was altered subsequently by notification released in August 20, 2020, making it optional. Aadhaar authentication is no longer required for previously enrolled individuals (though it is recommended), non-residents, and anybody other than Indian nationals.
According to the government, the updated requirements would make it easier for new enterprises to register. Aadhaar authentication for new GST registrations is an easy process. If all of the necessary verification is completed, the individual who chooses this option will get it within three working days. This is done along with the new GST registration process.

Enhanced GST Registration Application User Interface with Geo-Tagging
The Goods and Services Tax Department has made geolocation, or the specific Google location of company premises, mandatory. Geolocation information must be given when registering for a new GST registration or adding a new location to the GST system. GSTN enabled the new function 'Geolocation' to allow users to update their address with higher accuracy and ease while registering for the first time or making changes to their address in an existing registration. To assist the adoption and proper application of this geolocation utility, the Goods and Services Tax Department has made adjustments to the GST portal and improved the registration application user interface.
