UP Rickshaw Puller Is Served With A Income Tax Notice Worth Over 3 Crores
A rickshaw puller in Uttar Pradesh received a notice from the Income Tax (IT) department demanding that he pay more than 3 crores. He approached the UP police after receiving the Notice.
After receiving the notice from the IT department, Pratap Singh, a resident of Amar Colony in the Bakalpur area of Mathura, filed a complaint at the Highway police station, claiming fraud.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) Anuj Kumar, no case was filed based on Singh’s complaint, but the police will investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, Mr Singh shared a video clip on social media in which he recounted the events.
He stated that on March 15, he applied for a PAN card at the Jan Suvidha Kendra in Bakalpur, which is owned by Tej Prakash Upadhyay, because his bank had requested it.
Following that, he obtained a coloured photocopy of the PAN card from Sanjai Singh (mobile no. 9897762706) of Bakalpur.
Because he is illiterate, he couldn’t tell the difference between an original PAN card and a coloured photocopy of the same, according to the rickshaw puller in the video.
He had to run from pillar to post for three months in order to obtain his PAN card.
Mr Singh stated that on October 19, he received a call from IT officials and was served with a notice requesting that he pay Rs 3,47,54,896.
He claimed that officials informed him that someone impersonated him and obtained a GST number in his name in order to run a business, and that the trader’s turnover for 2018-19 was 43,44,36,201.
