Attention! The Last Date to Link Your PAN With Aadhaar is Today; Pan will be inactive if not linked with Aadhar

The last date for linking PAN cards with Aadhaar is 31 March 2022. If you do not do this by this deadline, then you will have to pay a fine of 500 to 1000 rupees. However, the PAN card will remain functional for one more year till March 2023 for filing ITR, claiming a refund, and other work. The Income Tax Department has issued a new circular regarding this on Wednesday.

According to the circular issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), taxpayers who link their PAN with Aadhaar after the last date till June 30, 2022, will have to pay a late fee of Rs 500. Thereafter the fine will increase to Rs 1,000. If PAN is inactive, you will not be able to do such financial transactions in which PAN is mandatory. There will also be trouble in opening a bank account, buying a property. According to CA Abhay Sharma, if a person does not have an active PAN number, then the bank will deduct TDS at the rate of 20% on your income.

To avoid this problem, Aadhar-PAN linking has to be done as soon as possible. Here we are telling you how you can check whether your PAN is linked with Aadhaar or not. Whereas if there is no link then how can you link them. As per the available data, more than 43.34 crore PANs have been linked with Aadhaar till January 24, 2022. PAN-Aadhaar linkage will help in curbing duplicate PAN and tax evasion.
