Considering the difficulties in filing taxes and the glitches in the online portal, Various Associations like Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Maharashtra Tax Practitioner’s Association, Punjab Accountants Association, BJP Professional Cell, Sales Tax Bar Association, DTPA, Gujarat Federation of Tax Consultants, Income Tax Bar Association, AIFTP, Howrah Tax Bar Association and Income Tax Practitioner Association has requested Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to extend the due date for filing income tax returns for non-audit and audit taxpayers.

The technical glitches on the new income tax portal have made it very difficult for taxpayers to file their income tax returns.

Offline utilities of income tax return provided either at the end of June 2022 or version modified from time to time till June 2022 even though form of ITR were notified much in advance.

Since the first week of July, there have been more glitches in the income tax portal, making it very difficult for taxpayers and tax consultants to download forms, file returns, and complete the e-verification of returns.

Some entries are there in Form 26AS but those entries are missing in the Annual Information Statement which confusing in the mind of Tax Payers and Professionals.

The system of Accounting is not clarified in the Return of income & Annual information statement. Though Refund is determined but not received on or before 31-03.2022 till AIS shows interest on income tax refund, Dividends though declared but not received before 31.03.2022 are shown in AIS.

The due date of for filing the TDS return for Q-4 was 31.05.2022. TDS Certificates are required to be issued within 15 days, (within 15.06.2022). The tax-payer has to reconcile the data with the information contained in AIS as well as TDS certificates. For this reason, also taxpayers need proper time so that the returns can be filed accurately.

The taxpayers have been trying to keep up with such a large number of amendments and the change in rates of GST which makes it difficult for them to compile the tax information for FY 2021-22.

Because of all aforementioned issues, an extension seeked by the association for Due Dates of Income Tax Return (Non-Audit and Audit Cases) and also Tax Audit Report Submission Due Dates.
