9 Income Tax Officials arrested by CBI for joining Department without Clearing Exam

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested nine Income Tax Officer of Maharashtra’s Nagar for joining Department without giving exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission.

The Anti-corruption branch of CBI arrested these nine accused officers on Monday.

Rinki Yadav, Stenographer (Grade-I1), Sarita, Anil Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Abhay Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Manish Kumar, and Dharmendra Kumar, all Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) of the Income Tax Department, Nagpur, have all been charged.

As per the sources, the accused had not appeared for the recruitment examination. Rather, they arranged fake candidates for themselves to appear in the examinations at their place and deceiving the Staff Selection Commission and were hired as MTS and Stenographers in the Income Tax Department.

In 2018, an offence was reported when it was discovered that several employees and officers had joined the I-T department without taking the Staff Selection Commission examination.

A probe was started, and the central agency discovered and apprehended these officers.

During the examination, all the examination and recruitment papers of these candidates along with their handwriting, signatures and thumb impressions were sent to forensic lab for analysis. The handwriting, signatures and thumb impression of papers had not matched with the accused’s samples taken by the forensic. As the agency, identified that the fraud was happened and after that the accused were arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
