Special Task Force of Kolkata and Bihar Police busts racket of Illegal Arms Factory

In a joint raid and search operation with Bihar police, the special task force of Kolkata police raided an allegedly illegal arms manufacturing in Bihar and detained three persons on Saturday.

According to police, this factory’s guns had supply networks throughout Bengal. An officer of the special task force said the arrests were made based on specific inputs from Kolkata police.

The combined raid took place early Saturday in Gopalpur village in Ahmadabad, Bihar.

“An illegal firearms manufacturing unit was discovered at the location, and three people were arrested, suspected to be the kingpins of the racket,” said a senior officer of the Kolkata police.

The three were identified by officers as Dharmendra Kumar, 30, Abhishek Kumar, 25, and Vikas Kumar, 23. According to the police, all three are Bihar natives.

Three single-shot rifles built in the country, one lathe machine, one milling machine, one drilling machine, and a large quantity of working tools and machinery were seized.

A huge amount of iron bars were also taken from the factory, according to the officer. “The arms that were manufactured and supplied from this factory have their supply networks in Kolkata,” a Kolkata police officer explained.

Although none of the racketeers had previously been apprehended in Kolkata, the city police have discovered linkages between them and the line of weaponry supply from Bihar to Kolkata, according to the source.

The trio and the seized materials were turned over to the local police station for additional investigation following the combined raid.

“It is critical to maintain intelligence about arms supply networks so that illegal movements can be stopped and attempts to smuggle arms into Bengal can be thwarted,” said a senior official of the Kolkata police special task force.
