CBI arrests Bank of Baroda Branch Manager for Demanding a Bribe of Rs.1 Lakh

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained the accused Branch Manager of Bank of Baroda, Shikarpur Branch, Bulandshahr (U.P.) for demanding and taking a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from the complainant. The accused Branch Manager took a bribe via signed bank cheque and was caught cashing it.

The CBI filed a case on 11.12.2024 against the Branch Manager of the Bank of Baroda’s Shikarpur Branch in Bulandshahr based on a written complaint. It was said that the Complainant’s wife asked for a loan of Rs.80 lakhs from the Bank of Baroda, Shikarpur Branch, Bulandshahar.

The public servant Branch Manager allegedly demanded an unlawful bribe of Rs.1,00,000 from the complainant in order to grant a loan of Rs.80 lakh. It was further said that the accused public worker insisted on receiving the Rs.1 lakh bribe in the form of a correctly signed bank cheque so that he could withdraw it himself.

The CBI laid a trap, and the complainant handed over the dully signed blank cheque to the accused during the trap proceedings. As soon as the accused Branch Manager withdrew the bribe money of Rs.1 lakh using the complainant’s cheque, the CBI team nabbed him and seized the bribe amount from his hands.

Searches were conducted at the accused’s residential locations in Bulandshahr and Delhi. During the search operation, a pistol was discovered from his residence in Bulandshahr and handed over to the local police, Thana Kotwali, Shikarpur, Bulandshahr. The arrested culprit is being brought before the Honourable Court of Special Judges, CBI, Court No. 2, Ghaziabad.
