IT Department releases Updated ITR-2 Excel Based Utility For Filing for Individuals and HUFs

The Income Tax Department recently released an upgraded version of the Excel-based utility for Filing ITR-2. This utility is for individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who do not earn revenue from profits and gains of business or profession.

The most recent version, Utility Excel-Based (Version 1.11), was released on March 25, 2025, and incorporates support for filing under Section 139(8A), allowing taxpayers to file an updated return as needed. This tool is meant to make return filing easier for salaried persons, retirees, and other non-business taxpayers.
