Gujarat: GST Dept Discovers Rs. 5.68 Crore Tax Evasion in Tobacco and Pan Masala Trade
Gujarat State GST Department conducted a special investigation for pan masala and tobacco traders in Ahmedabad on March 25, 2025 to prevent tax evasion. Based on specific intelligence and surveillance, officials raided 22 locations, including Maninagar, Kubernagar, and Changodar.
While carrying out the probe, authorities discovered that some of the businesses were concealing inventories while others were selling items without recording sales. There were also unregistered dealers who were still conducting businesses through cash payments to remain inconspicuous.
The authorities discovered that a total of Rs. 5.68 crore in taxes was not paid. They collected this unpaid tax from both businesses that were officially registered and those that were not.
The State GST Department remains committed to take necessary measures, including legal action when required.
