Lok Sabha Committee Examines Income Tax Bill 2025 Before Monsoon Session
The Lok Sabha Select Committee on the proposed Income-Tax Bill, 2025, held an important meeting today at Parliament House in New Delhi. Led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda, the 31-member panel is examining the draft legislation whose motive is to reform and simplify India’s income tax rules.
The Income Tax Bill, 2025, was first introduced in the Lok Sabha during the early constituent of the Budget Session, and it aims to merge and revise the current tax rules. Because of its importance, the Bill was forwarded to the Select Committee for a detailed review and to gather feedback from stakeholders.
The committee is likely to submit its report on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, giving important suggestions on the future course of direct taxation in the country.
Reports indicate that the authority is examining numerous provisions in the draft law, including tax slab rationalisation, digital compliance mechanisms, and simplification of filing methods. This step is part of the government’s larger goal to update and improve the income tax system, making it more transparent, fair, and easier for taxpayers.
Experts suggest that the updated Income-Tax Bill could be key in encouraging voluntary tax compliance, expanding the tax base, and increasing revenue collection.
As the Monsoon Session approaches, attention is now focused on the Committee’s report, which may influence the next major tax reform in India.
