FASTag Annual Pass to Be Introduced From August 15, 2025: Here is All You Need to Know

In an effort to ease highway travel across India, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is launching a new FASTag annual pass from August 15, 2025, for private vehicle users. This will benefit the individuals who regularly travel on national highways by offering them a smooth and affordable way to complete their journeys.

The FASTag annual pass will replace multiple toll payments and allow users to pay one affordable yearly fee instead of paying tolls over and over again. You can get up to 200 toll-free travels or one year validity at authorised National Highway (NH) and National Expressways (NE) toll plazas.

How to Activate FASTag Annual Pass

To activate your annual pass, you will need to verify the eligibility of the vehicle and the associated FASTag. After this is verified successfully, you will be required to pay Rs 3000 for the base year 2025-26 via the Rajmargyatra mobile application or the NHAI website. After the Payment Confirmation, your FASTag Annual Pass will be activated, usually within 2 hours.

Validity of FASTag Annual Pass

The pass is valid for one year from the date of activation or 200 trips, whichever comes first.

What is Considered a Single Trip With the Annual Pass?

  • For point-based toll plazas: Every time you cross a toll, it counts as one trip. So, going there and coming back counts as two trips.
  • For closed toll plazas: One entry and one exit together count as one trip.

Eligibility Criteria for FASTag Annual Pass

  • The pass is only for private vehicles like jeeps, cars, and vans.
  • The annual pass will only work on the vehicle for which the FASTag is registered.
  • You must already have an active FASTag installed on your vehicle.

Eligible Vehicles for Annual Pass

You cannot use an Annual Pass for all types of vehicles. Only the private non-commercial Car, Jeep or Van is eligible for the Annual Pass. If you use your vehicle for commercial purposes, your card will be deactivated without notice.

Toll Plazas Included in Annual Pass

The FASTag Annual Pass is valid at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas. However, FASTag will be applicable as a regular FASTag for fee plazas at State Highways (SH) or Expressways, managed by state government or local bodies, and applicable user fee charges may apply.

Benefits of FASTag Annual Pass

Here are the benefits of the Fastag Annual Pass:

  • Time Saving: Users can save time by avoiding long queues at toll plazas.
  • Affordable: Those users who travel regularly on national highways can save on toll charges.
  • Nationwide Applicability: The card is applicable for all NHAI-managed highways.
