Rajasthan Gang Held for Rs. 99.8 Lakh Fraud Through Fake Messaging Account
On Friday, four men were arrested for allegedly cheating a city businessman of Rs. 99.8 lakh. They reportedly pretended to be the businessman’s father and tricked the company’s chartered accountant (CA) into sharing bank details and transferring money. Police gave this information on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Rahul, 26 years old, from Jaipur; Aniket, 23 years old, from Behror; and Pawan, 21 years old and Aditya, 23 years old, from Kothputli in Rajasthan. They were arrested during police raids in Rajasthan.
According to the police, the suspects contacted the CA through a messaging app in October 2025. They used the businessman’s father’s photo as their profile picture and asked the CA to transfer money in his name.
Believing the request to be real, the CA transferred Rs. 99.8 lakh to the bank account given by the accused.
Later, an FIR was registered in October 2025 at the Cyber Central police station under Section 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on the businessman’s complaint.
The officer said, “It was revealed that the bank account used in the fraud allegedly belonged to Pawan and Rahul. Pawan had allegedly sold the account to Aniket, who later shared it with Aditya. Rahul and Pawan received Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 1 lakh of the defrauded money, respectively.”
Yashpal Yadav, the public relations officer of Faridabad Police, said that the police are currently investigating where the money went and are trying to recover the stolen amount. He further added that “All four accused have been sent to a four-day police remand for further interrogation.”
