Income Tax Department Flags High-Risk Transactions on Insight Portal
The Directorate of Income Tax (Systems) has issued Insight Instruction No. 87 for the income tax department to help it handle high-risk financial cases. These cases relate to Assessment Years 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 and are divided into two categories: High-Risk Transaction and High-Risk Transaction (Non-PAN).
These cases have been identified based on risk assessments of verification reports uploaded in the STR module. The high-risk transaction cases are assigned to Jurisdictional Assessing Officers (JAO), while the non-PAN cases are assigned to the Pr. CCIT (CCA).
As per the instructions, the Board-approved risk management strategy has been implemented for flagging cases for action under section 148/148A of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
Officials can log in to the portal, view case summaries, and check detailed information about each case. Also, the officers can mark a case as “No Action Required” if they think that no action is needed to be undertaken in that case. Officers can also reassign a case or initiate reference or link verification reports.
For more details, refer to the official instructions.
