Andhra Pradesh Chambers seeks CBIC to extend GST Amnesty Scheme and GSTR Filing Deadline
The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) has written to the chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) to request an extension of the GST amnesty scheme and the deadline for filing Form 9 (Annual Return) and Form 9C (reconciliation statement).
AP Chambers president Potluri Bhaskara Rao and general secretary B. Raja Sekhar stated that the request is made in light of the challenges faced by the taxpayers, including MSMEs, major firms, and tax experts, in achieving compliance deadlines.
The duo leaders added that AP Chambers underlined continuous technical issues on the GST portal, a mounting compliance burden on tax professionals, multiple amendments, and economic turmoil that have hampered businesses' ability to file returns on time. MSMEs, in particular, are struggling due to limited resources and difficult GST reconciliation.
The Chamber highlighted that due to the interdependence of Form 9 and Form 9C filings, both deadlines must be extended to assure accuracy. AP Chambers has asked the CBIC to extend the GST amnesty scheme and postpone the deadline for Form 9 and Form 9C to June 30, 2025. The extension would give businesses enough time to comply while also allowing the government to raise revenue through timely filings.
The Chamber requested the CBIC to consider the request favourably and issue an extension as soon as possible to avoid hardship for businesses and tax professionals.
