Approach GST Seva Kendras to Streamline Tax Payment: GST Commissioner

Commissioner of GST, Madurai district, S Arokia Raj, said on Tuesday that if budding MSME firms approach the GST seva kendras in the area, they will help simplify the process of paying tax. On Tuesday, he spoke at the vendor development programme cum industrial show organised by the MSME department in collaboration with MADITSSIA.

“The government recognises MSMEs as the growth engine of the country and we are constantly accessible to entrepreneurs that find it tough to file their tax returns. There are certain technical issues in the implementation of GST, but it has greatly enhanced the country’s tax structure,” the GST commissioner stated.

He also asked all enterprises to attend the GST meeting, which is held once a month at the GST district office in Madurai.

According to J Gadde Ravi, joint director of the MSME section at the Development Facilitation Office in Chennai, there is a communication gap between MSME and the procurement demands of PSUs in India. “Many MSMEs are having difficulty registering in the government e marketplace (GeM) portal, which provides information regarding PSU requirements,” he said.
