Biggest Arrest in Tax Evasion: Kerala GST Department held a Man in Rs. 126 crore GST Evasion

The Kerala GST Intelligence wing detained the director of a Thrissur-based multi-level marketing (MLM) company for alleged Rs. 126 crore tax evasion. According to authorities, this is the biggest case of GST evasion uncovered by the state GST department.

Prathapan Kolatt Dasan, director of Highrich Online Shoppe Pvt Ltd in Neruvissery, Arattupuzha, was arrested on December 1 by the GST intelligence Kasaragod division. Rameshan Kolikara, senior intelligence officer, intelligence wing, Kasaragod, state GST, verified the arrest but gave no other details when contacted.

However, insiders say it’s odd that the GST department has failed to provide information about Prathapan’s arrest. “Normally, the GST department issues press statements in tax evasion cases involving more than Rs. 5 crore. It appears that there is an attempt to conceal something,” stated the insider.
