Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made a big announcement regarding the students. The CM has announced that from the coming academic session, the 5th and 8th examinations in all private schools will be held on the board pattern. From the year 2007-08 academic session, classes V and VIII were separated from the board examination.

CM Shivraj made this announcement while addressing the training program of newly appointed teachers by the Department of School Education and Tribal Affairs. He said that in order to ensure the quality of education of the children studying in the schools of the state, the examinations of class 5th and 8th would be conducted on the board pattern in all government recognized non-government and aided schools along with government schools. Along with this, the internal assessment will also be ensured regularly in these schools. It is the responsibility of the teachers to shape the future of the children. This program has been done with the aim of honoring and saluting the teachers, CM addressed 15,000 newly-hired teachers at a training programme organized at BHEL Dussehra Ground by departments of school education and tribal affairs

The students who fail the entire subject in class V and VIII will be able to take the examination again after two months. Then if they fail again, they will get admission to the same class as a regular student. From the year 2010, the board examination of the 5th and 8th classes was abolished. States including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra etc. had sent a proposal to the central government to start the 5th-8th board examination. The central government has given its approval. After the implementation of the Right to Education Act in the year 2009, the fifth-eighth examination was not called an examination but an evaluation.
