Budget 2026: Finance Minister Announces 'Corporate Mitras' to Support MSMEs in Tier-2 and Tier-3 Cities
During the Union Budget 2026 on February 1, 2026, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a new plan involving ICAI, ICSI, and ICMAI. These institutes will create short courses and practical tools to train "Corporate Mitras." The goal of this program is to offer affordable professional support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, helping them manage regulatory compliance more easily.
The main purpose of the program is to help Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with compliance, regulations, and statutory requirements. This support will also make it easier for them to access formal credit.
The initiative will focus on Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, where professional services are often limited or hard to access. Corporate Mitras will be trained to guide small businesses, helping them handle legal and financial tasks easily.
The program will be affordable, helping small businesses save money on professional fees. ICAI, ICSI, and ICMAI will create short courses to train Corporate Mitras to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) effectively.
