Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her ninth Union Budget in Parliament today, February 1, 2026, marking a historic moment for India. For the first time ever, the country’s annual financial statement is being delivered on a Sunday.
As the nation closely watches, his important Budget is expected to have a big impact on the direction of India’s economy in the year ahead.
The Economic Survey for 2025-26, prepared by Chief Economic Advisor V. Anantha Nageswaran, was presented in Parliament on Thursday, January 29, 2026, by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. It showed that the government expects India’s economy to grow by 7.4% in the current financial year. For the third quarter (October-December 2025), the estimated growth rate was 7%. Looking ahead to 2026-27, the Survey predicts the economy could grow between 6.8% and 7.2%.
The Union Budget 2026 is expected to introduce several steps to help India’s economy grow while keeping government spending under control. The Budget 2026 may also include important reforms to protect the economy from global challenges, including trade frictions and U.S. tariffs.
