CA Removed From Register of Member For Three Years After Finding Him Guilty of "Professional Misconduct"
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (set up under an Act of Parliament) recently issued a notification (No. F. No. 29-CA/Law/D-331/2025) on November 4, 2025, regarding a chartered accountant name removed from ICAI register for three years for professional misconduct.
The Karnataka High Court looked into a case against Chartered Accountant Manish Agarwal from Mumbai. After reviewing the case, the court ordered on July 29, 2025 (Petition No. 53/2014) under Section 21(6)(c) of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949, that after finding him guilty of professional misconduct for three years within the meaning of clause (7) of Part I of the Second Schedule read with Clause (ii) of Part II of the Second Schedule to the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949.
Considering this, the court ordered that his name be removed from the official list (register) of chartered accountants for three years starting from July 29, 2025.
After announcing the order of the Karnataka High Court dated July 29, 2025, and in terms of sub-section (2) of section 20 of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 read with regulation 18 of the Chartered Accountants Act and Regulations 1988, the court announced that Shri Manish Agarwal (Membership No. 208588) has been removed from the Register of Chartered Accountants for three years.
Note: This will come into effect from the publication of this notification.
