CBDT issues refunds of over Rs.1,50,407 crore to more than 1.48 crore taxpayers

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued refunds of over Rs.1,50,407 crore to more than 1.48 crore taxpayers from 1st Apr,2021 to 3rd January,2022. Income tax refunds of Rs.51,194 crore have been issued in 1,46,24,250cases & corporate tax refunds of Rs.99,213 crore have been issued in 2,19,913 cases.

This includes 1.1 crore refunds of AY 2021-22 amounting to Rs.21,323.55 crore.

More than 5.78 crore ITRs for AY 2021-22 filed till 7pm today compared to 5.95 crore ITRs for AY 2020-21 filed till 10th January, 2021 (extended due dt for AY 2020-21). This includes 35.74 lakh ITRs filed today with 4.55 lakh ITRs filed in last one hour.
