CBI arrests Divisional Engineer of BSNL for accepting Bribe The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Divisional Engineer (In-charge AGM) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Orai (Uttar Pradesh) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the Complainant. A complaint was filed against a Divisional Engineer (In-charge AGM), BSNL, Orai (Uttar Pradesh), alleging that he demanded a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant. It was further claimed that the accused requested a bribe from the complainant (a BSNL vendor) in exchange for awarding the task of installation and supply of OLT Machine; giving fibre connection to BDO Office, Dakor, Orai and making timely payment. The CBI set a trap and apprehended the accused while seeking and taking a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant. Searches were undertaken at the accused's homes in Orai and Kanpur, resulting in the recovery of damning papers, including property investments. The accused was produced before the Competent Court and remanded to 14 days Judicial custody.
