CBI arrests GST Commissioner in a Bribery Case of Rs.3.83 Lakh The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained Raju Shaktivel, Commissioner (Appeals), Central GST, Central Excise & Customs, Guwahati, as well as a middleman on Thursday in connection with an alleged Rs 3.83 lakh bribery case. The intermediary was identified as Mahavir Jain by CBI sources. According to the sources, a lawsuit was filed against Raju and three middlemen after a contractor claimed he had completed construction work connected to the NF Railway and created invoices. The Additional Commissioner for Central Goods and Services Tax in Dibrugarh issued a demand for Service Tax in the sum of Rs 48,43,034. The complainant filed an appeal before the Commissioner (Appeals), CGST, against the adjudication order because he was upset with the Additional Commissioner's decision. CBI laid a trap and caught a middleman (Private Person) while accepting bribe of Rs.3.83 lakh on behalf of said Commissioner(an IRS Officer). The said Commissioner was also caught. Incriminating materials were found during searches that were done on the accused's property.
