CBI arrests Officer In-charge of Echs and Office Superintendent in Separate Cases of Bribery

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two accused in separate cases while accepting bribe amounts of Rs. 80,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.

In the first case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), today, arrested an Officer In-charge (OIC), Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic, Bulandshahr, (U.P.) on accepting a bribe of Rs. 80,000.

The CBI filed the current case against the said Officer In-charge, ECHS Polyclinic, Bulandshahr (U.P.) on allegations of demanding undue advantage/ illegal gratification of Rs.1,00,000 per month to facilitate the smooth operation of medical-related services to ECHS beneficiaries in associated 04 hospitals.

It has also been alleged that the accused person mounted pressure on the complainant for the same. Further, it was alleged that the complainant’s firm was engaged in offering services related to the medical treatment of ECHS beneficiaries in 04 Hospitals at Bulandshahr on an outsourcing basis.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting undue advantage/bribe amounting to Rs. 80,000 out of the demanded amount of Rs.1,00,000 from the complainant.

The accused has been apprehended, and a search is being undertaken at the accused’s residence in Greater Noida.

It may be mentioned that ECHS was established with the goal of providing allopathic and AYUSH Medicare to ex-servicemen retirees and their families through a network of ECHS Polyclinics located in government hospitals, ECHS empanelled commercial hospitals, and specific government AYUSH hospitals throughout the country.

The Scheme has been organised along the lines of CGHS to facilitate cashless transactions for patients and is funded by the Government of India.

The arrested suspects will appear before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judges, CBI Cases, Ghaziabad.

In another case, CBI apprehended the Office Superintendent, Personnel Division, South East Central Railway (SECR), Nagpur for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.

CBI registered the instant case on a complaint against the accused Office Superintendent, Personnel Division, SECR, Nagpur on allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a Malaria Khalashi worker working in the same organization for processing his posting and re-deployment. On negotiation, the accused agreed to accept an initial bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the Complainant.

The CBI set a trap, and the accused was captured red-handed while taking a negotiated bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant.

Searches are being undertaken at the accused’s official and home premises. The culprit was apprehended and will appear before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Nagpur.

The investigation is continuing in both cases.
