CBI arrests Verka Dairy Plant Deputy Manager and Cantonment Board Sanitary Inspector in Bribery Cases

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained a Deputy Manager (Production) at the Verka Dairy Plant in Mohali (Punjab) for allegedly asking and receiving a bribe of Rs. 30,000 from the complainant.

A complaint was filed against the Deputy Manager (Production), Verka Dairy Plant, Mohali. The Complainant allegedly ran a business in Chandigarh in the name of his wife, and the firm was given a contract to provide labour and security to the Verka Plant (Milkfed), Mohali.

The Deputy Manager (Production), Verka Dairy Plant, Mohali was also accused of harassing the Complainant and threatening to cancel the contract. The complainant met with the accused, who reportedly sought a bribe of Rs.15000 per month for the following 4-5 months. It was further claimed that the accused told the complainant that if the bribe was not paid, the contract would be terminated. The accused consented to receive Rs.30,000 after some negotiation.

The CBI set a trap and arrested the accused while asking and receiving a bribe of Rs.30,000. Searches were undertaken at the accused’s homes in Mohali and Patiala (Punjab), with the goal of recovering incriminating papers.

The accused appeared in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Chandigarh, and was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

In another case, the CBI detained a Sanitary Inspector of the Cantonment Board in Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) for requesting and receiving a Rs. 15,000 bribe from the complainant.

A complaint was filed against two Sanitary Inspectors of the Cantonment Board of Meerut, alleging that they demanded a payment of Rs. 25,000 from the complainant in order to continue the restoration of the complainant’s three stores in the Cantonment Board of Meerut.

It was further claimed that three businesses were being built at Lal Kurti, Meerut Cantonment, and that the owner of the three shops had delegated construction to the Complainant. Both accused working at the office of the CEO, Cantonment Board, Meerut, sought a payment of Rs.25,000 from the complainant in order to continue the building of the three stores.

The CBI set a trap and captured a sanitary inspector red-handed while seeking and taking a bribe of Rs. 15,000 from the complainant. Searches were done at both of the accused’s homes.

The apprehended accused was brought before the Court of Special Judge, CBl Cases in Ghaziabad and was remanded in custody until November 30, 2023.

The investigations into both situations are ongoing.
