CBI Catches an ESIC Officer Red-Handed While Demanding and Accepting Rs. 9000 Bribe, Officer Arrested
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Social Security Officer, Office of the Regional Director, Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Jammu, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 9,000 from an individual.
The case on the matter was registered on November 17, 2025. The complaint was filed by the person from whom the officer demanded a bribe. As per the complaint registered, the wife of the complainant owned a private firm, but it stopped working and has not done any business since it was started. But the Social Security Officer kept on harassing them by passing notices under Section 45 for non-deposit of contributions to ESIC.
When the complainant tried to sort things out by meeting the officer in private, the officer demanded an illegal gratification of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant to close the matter. After a thorough discussion, the officer agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 9000.
Thereafter, the complainant filed a case in the CBI against the officer. On November 17, 2025, the CBI laid a trap to catch the accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 9000. The accused is now under custody, and a further search is ongoing at the residence of the accused.
