A CBI court in Jaipur has sentenced a former Branch Manager of the Bank of Maharashtra to seven years of rigorous imprisonment in a Rs 3.61 crore bank fraud case.
The court on September 30, 2026, convicted Ram Bharos Meena, who was the Branch Manager of the Bank of Maharashtra’s Gopalpura Bypass Branch in Jaipur. He was sentenced to seven years in jail and fined Rs 2.85 lakh.
The court also sentenced Makhan Lal Meena, a private individual accused in the case, to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
According to the CBI, the case was registered on November 9, 2016, based on a complaint filed by the Bank of Maharashtra’s Zonal Office in Jaipur. The complaint alleged that Ram Bharos Meena illegally sanctioned loans in 17 accounts between January 15 and May 6, 2015.
The loans were allegedly approved without proper loan applications, required documents or security. The CBI said Meena misused his official position and was involved in fraud and forgery, causing a loss of around Rs 3.61 crore to the bank.
After completing its investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet against the two accused on July 9, 2020. Charges were formally framed by the court on December 1, 2021.
After hearing the case and examining the evidence, the court found both accused guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
